Waterproof floors often come with a pre-attached underlayment but, if not, you can certainly add one, especially if you're installing over a hard and damp surface like concrete. Waterproof flooring is another version of luxury vinyl (LVF), engineered to be even thicker and more durable, with advanced technology cores that won't peel or ripple no matter how much water it's exposed to or for how long.
What do underlayments do?
These are thin materials, usually composed of cork, foam, felt, rubber or fiber, serving several purposes from insulating from sound and providing cushioning, making it more comfortable and easier on joints. They can also act as moisture barriers, protecting the floor against wear.
Combining aesthetic and function
This flooring is a newer version of luxury vinyl (LVF). Like that material, these floors are amazingly realistic mimics of wood, stone, and tile, available in an assortment of colors and patterns. Images are taken with digital photography and have micro beveling and deep embossing to add depth, dimension, and textured features. It can be cut into planks or square, tile-sized pieces.
